How to choose your APART stylist?
How to choose your APART stylist?
At APART, our team is made up of several levels: Apprentice, New Talent, Stylist, Senior, and Master Stylist.
These levels are not a ranking of who is "good" or less good. Rather, they reflect different degrees of experience, technical expertise, and autonomy behind the chair. The goal is simple: to help you choose the level that best suits your needs, your hair, and the desired outcome.
We created this system because we believe that beautiful hairstyles should be accessible at various price points, while giving our emerging stylists the necessary space to learn, practice, and develop their craft.
Here's what each level concretely means.
Apprentice
Ideal for: simple services, maintenance, and clients who are comfortable participating in a new hairdresser's learning journey.
Apprentices are at the beginning of their careers and follow a structured training program. They develop their technical skills, consultation abilities, speed, and confidence behind the chair. They are supported and supervised by more experienced members of the APART team when necessary.
Booking with an Apprentice allows you to access APART at a more accessible price, while providing a new stylist with valuable opportunities to gain experience.
As they are still learning, they may need more time, seek advice from another team member, or adjust the plan if the service exceeds their current level of experience.
We generally do not recommend Apprentices for major color corrections, very technical transformations, or complex hair histories.
Our apprentices:
New Talent
Ideal for: everyday cuts and colors, maintaining an existing look, and transformations of moderate complexity.
New Talents have completed their apprenticeship and are beginning to be fully autonomous behind the chair. They master APART's technical standards and can perform many of our services independently.
What they continue to develop most is experience — that ability to quickly recognize different underlying pigments, the effects of old colorings, textures, and unexpected situations that can only be learned by working on many heads.
For many clients, a New Talent is an excellent choice. However, for particularly complex corrections or transformations, we recommend a Stylist, Senior, or Master Stylist.
Our new talents:
Stylist
Ideal for: most cuts, colors, and transformations, including more technically demanding services.
Stylists are fully autonomous behind the chair and possess several years of experience, as well as strong consultation, technical, and problem-solving skills.
They know how to adapt their approach to your hair history, texture, hair condition, and the result you wish to achieve.
If you are considering a significant transformation or an appointment that requires several techniques, the Stylist level is often an excellent starting point.
Our stylists:
Senior Stylist
Ideal for: complex transformations, advanced color work, major changes, and clients seeking a high level of experience.
Senior Stylists possess extensive experience behind the chair and a high degree of technical autonomy.
Having encountered a wide variety of hair types, textures, color histories, and unexpected situations, they are particularly well-placed to anticipate challenges and adjust their approach when things don't go exactly as planned.
This experience is particularly valuable for color corrections, major blonde transformations, complex color histories, and technically demanding cuts.
Some of our Seniors also play a role in mentoring and training new team members.
Our senior stylists:
Master Stylist
Ideal for: major transformations, the most technically complex services, and clients seeking our highest level of experience.
Master Stylists represent the highest level of technical expertise at APART.
Beyond their work behind the chair, they contribute to the development of the next generation of hairdressers through mentoring and training. Some also act as trainers in the hair industry.
At this level, you are not simply paying for the time spent in the chair. You are investing in years of accumulated knowledge, technical judgment, and experience in solving complex situations.
Why does the price change from one level to another?
The price difference is not simply based on the products used or the number of hours spent behind the chair. It primarily reflects the stylist's experience.
A technique can be taught. Knowing exactly when to use it, when not to use it, how to adapt it, and what to do when an unexpected situation arises, is something that develops over years.
That's why our prices evolve as our stylists progress through the APART levels.
And this is also what allows us to offer more accessible prices with our emerging stylists, while giving them the necessary space to continue developing their expertise.
Our master stylists:
A lower price does not make your hair less complex
This is probably the most important thing to remember.
We perfectly understand the importance of sticking to a budget. But choosing a lower stylist level does not make a technically complex service simpler to perform.
Years of home coloring, multiple color bands, fragile hair, a significant correction, or a very precise transformation can require a lot of experience, regardless of the service price.
Booking an Apprentice simply because their service is cheaper is therefore not always the best choice — neither for you nor for the stylist.
Our Apprentices deserve the necessary space to learn without being asked to handle a situation that requires Senior or Master Stylist level experience. And you deserve to be paired with someone who has the necessary experience to work towards your goal in a safe, realistic, and thoughtful manner.
Sometimes, this means adjusting your budget.
Sometimes, dividing a transformation into several appointments.
And sometimes, choosing a different stylist level.
There is no single right way to achieve this. The important thing is to choose the right person for your hair and your goal.
Still not sure who to book with?
That's completely normal.
You don't need to know hair well enough to determine the complexity of your appointment yourself. That's our job.
Send us some photos of your current hair, your hair history, and some references of the result you would like to achieve.
Our team can then help you determine:
- the service you need;
- the stylist level that would best suit you;
- the time to allocate for the appointment;
- and what is realistically achievable in one session.
The goal is not to convince everyone to book with our most experienced stylist.
The goal is much simpler: the right client, with the right stylist, for the right service.
That's how everyone wins.
